This reformation idea is not as simple as one might think, since it involves not only the Catholic-Lutheran controversy, but the Lutheran-Zwinglian controversy, the Zwinglian-Calvinist controversy, the Calvinist-Baptist controversy, and so on. There was not one unified reformation but many competing ones. There were reformations of reformations and reformations upon reformations…Today we call them denominations. The reformers never came to an agreement, and would not allow each other into their church membership. Today is no different.
